let's spell
In this age of social media, everyone is a typist. If you watch people type you’ll discover that there’re people who punch the pads faster and more efficiently. Those are the few who took time off to learn the proper way to type.
In the same vein, everyone can spell, or at least make an attempt. But give it to those who learnt the proper way to spell words. Spelling words can be as easy as abc, if you follow these steps:
1. learning to hear sounds when we say words.
2. learning the specific letters that stand for each sound.
3. checking if the words are spelt as they sound.
Some words are spelt the way they sound. Those words don’t present much challenge to students. The English language is a complicated subject. In most cases, words are not spelt exactly how they sound. The major challenge, therefore, is finding out how the spelling is different from sounds and remembering such difference.
In SpellingSteps, we evolve a gradual approach to phonics and spelling. It’s a “building block” approach which explains how the different letter sounds and combinations form words.
